Limerick District League Action Returns This Weekend

Limerick District League football returns this weekend with both Lawson Cup and Premier Division action following an extra two-week break due to the Covid outbreak. But, with the Government set to announce an easing of restrictions this evening after advice from NPHET, the LDMC took the decision to return and officially informed all clubs of the condition following a meeting on Thursday night.

LDMC secretary Turlough McNamara sent an email to all clubs ahead of the return to action which outlined the consequences facing any side who are unable to fulfill a team for any reason including Covid-19 outbreaks.

Furthermore, the league confirmed that there will be a play-off to decide who finishes in sixth place IF there are two or more teams level on points. All three of the chasing pack are level on 11 points.

It promises to be an exciting end to the opening round of games in the Premier Division with third facing second when Fairview Rangers welcome Aisling Annacotty to the Fairgreen on Saturday night (7pm). Kilmallock host Geraldines in the basement battle on Sunday morning with both sides looking for their first win. All games on Sunday morning kick off at 11am.
