Treaty United continued their preparations for the 2022 Airtricity League First Division season with a 3-0 defeat to Premier Division champions Shamrock Rovers in a behind closed doors game at Roadstone. It was Treaty’s second pre-season friendly of the season as they lost out to Finn Harps in Abbotstown last weekend.
New signings Lee Devitt, Enda Curran and Jack Brady all featured while a few trialists were also present as Tommy Barrett looks to finalise his squad before the kick-off on February 18th against Wexford at Ferrycarrig Park.
Goals from former Limerick FC player Aaron Greene, an own-goal and Danny Mandriou provided Stephen Bradley’s side with the victory as they prepare to defend their crown and kick-off their season on February 18th against UCD at Tallaght Stadium.
Rovers began with a strong squad and Richie Towell and Jack Byrne both came close to giving the Dublin outfit the lead in the first period. On the half hour mark, Greene headed home to put Rovers in the ascendancy. Another former Limerick FC player came close as Barry Cotter headed over the bar in the second period. A Ronan Finn cross was turned into their own net by a Treaty defender before Mandriou sealed the victory.
Treaty United play their first competitive game on Tuesday night when they entertain Waterford FC in the Munster Senior Cup at the Markets Field (7.45).
