Limerick Sport Huskies were in action against the Limerick Celtics in the UL Arena while the Sport Eagles were also in action at the weekend.
There was derby action in the UL Arena as the Limerick Sport Huskies took on the the Limerick Celtics in the MissQuote.ie first division.
With both sides seeking the bragging rights across the county it was Limerick Celtics who managed to burst past their opponents on the day taking the victory with a score line of 63-78.
The MVP of the game was Sophie Paska of the Celtics who put up a whopping 34 points throughout.
Celtics were also helped on by both Danielle O’Leary with 16 points and Lucy Devoy with 10 points respectively
The win made it six out of seven for the Limerick side.
The Limerick Sports Huskies put in an excellent effort, Yuleska Paola Ramirez Tejda almost matched Paska by putting up 31 points to help her team stay in the fight. Sophie Moore Helped added 12 points while Taylor Herd had nine.
Both Limerick sides played well but at the end of the contest it was the Limerick Celtics coming away with the victory. The Huskies remain in second table on 33 points as the Celtics move clear of bottom placed Marble City Hawks and within three of Tipperary Knights.

In the Men’s basketball the Limerick Sport Eagles were defeated 99-92 by Kerry’s Scotts Lakers Killarney in the UL Arena in the first division of the InsureMyVan.ie National League.
The game was an extremely close affair and was only decided in the final minutes of the tie. This win got the Killarney side back to winning ways, with Emilyan Grydov’s and Duahen Godwin’s combining for 74 points for the Lakers.
Limerick Sport Eagles had a more team orientated affair with Nikola Ivkovic topping their scoring tally with 21 points. Manny Payton followed Ivkovic and put up 17 points for the team, Daniel Ajuka managed to add 14 points also.
It was a bitter defeat for the Sport Eagles who have lost ground on the pace setters with five consecutive losses. They currently sit in third in the Southern Conference, three points ahead of the Celtics who have as many games in hand.
