“They have given us an awful lot of difficulty” | Diarmuid Mullins preparing for tough Waterford clash in Munster U20 semi-final

Limerick take on Waterford in the Munster U20 semi-final this evening.

A second successive Munster U20 hurling final is just sixty minutes away for Diarmuid Mullins and his Limerick side as they welcome Waterford to the TUS Gaelic Grounds this evening at 7pm.

Mullins side have gone two from two this year, claiming a late victory against Clare, before overcoming last year’s champions Cork last week.

Limerick were beaten by the Rebels in last year’s Munster final with a number of that side retained for this evening’s semi-final clash with the Deise.

Their semi-final opponents, Waterford were beaten by Tipp in round one but responded with a resounding victory over Kerry last week.

And Limerick manager Diarmuid Mullins is expecting a tough test against the Deise.

“Our home semi final next week against Waterford, yeah that’s going to be a really tough tough game now. Waterford had a good win tonight and they weren’t far off beaten Tipperary as well and they’ve given us an awful lot of difficulty over the last number of years.

“So I think the four teams that are left there’s not going to be much between any of the teams.”

Limerick and Waterford haven’t met in the grade in over a decade but won three successive Munster titles at the U21 grade from 2015-’17, with the provincial champions going on to claim All-Ireland honours in each of those years.

The senior sides also played out a classic at the weekend with both Cathal O’Neill and Cathrach Daly, who are U20, missing out tonight after featuring in the senior championship.

The prize for tonight’s winner is a place in next Wednesday’s final against one of Cork or Tipperary, who meet tonight.

Limerick’s clash with Waterford will be live from 7pm tonight on the TG4 player.
