It will be Limerick’s second Munster final in a week following the football decider the previous Saturday.
FBD Semple Stadium Thurles has been confirmed as the venue for Limerick’s 2022 Munster Senior Hurling Championship final with Clare on Sunday 5 June.
The clash will have a 4pm throw in time with tickets for the game to go on sale next Thursday 26 May.
Limerick are seeking a four in a row of Munster titles for the first time since 1936 following victories in the final over Tipperary (2019 & ’21) and Waterford (2020).
Conversely, Clare haven’t won the provincial title since 1998 and have only featured in four finals in the meantime.
The last time the sides met in the Munster final, came in 1995, as Clare ended a 62-year wait for provincial honours in this weekend’s venue with a 1-17 to 0-11 win over the Treaty side.
Limerick, are third in the Munster Hurling Roll of Honour with 22 titles, behind Cork (54) and Tipperary (42). The Banner are fifth on the list with six.
Last year, Limerick retained their title in Pairc Ui Chaoimh, following their 2020 win over Waterford in Semple Stadium.
Limerick’s last Munster final appearance in this weekend’s venue in front of a crowd came in 2007 when they were beaten by the Deise.
Clare competed in successive finals in Semple Stadium in 2017 and ’18 where they were twice defeated by Cork.
The Banner were victorious in their most recent Semple Stadium clash with Limerick, a 3-17 to 2-16 win in the Munster semi-final.
It was a second successive win in the stadium over Limerick as they eliminated the Treaty side from the championship the previous year with a 0-19 to 0-15 win in the qualifiers in Thurles.
Limerick play Clare in the 2022 Munster Senior Hurling Championship Final on Sunday 5 June in FBD Semple Stadium at 4pm.
