Munster Final glory parked for Hegarty as Limerick look forward to Croke Park

Limerick star Gearoid Hegarty says that Limerick’s squad of players got them through Munster and an ‘incredible’ final but focus has very much turned to the tasks that lie ahead next month.

John Kiely’s men are will find out their semi-final opponents after this weekend’s quarter-finals and the St Patrick’s ace feels that Limerick are improving with each game they play.

“I think we are in a great position. We are in a position that I would have bitten your hand off for at the start of the year.

“I think we are in a great position. We are in a position that I would have bitten your hand off for at the start of the year.

“We are after winning Munster. We are going straight to the All-Ireland semi-final. I always believe the best route is the shortest route.

“We definitely have loads to improve on. We haven’t had a performance yet that we have been extremely happy with.

“We are going to Croke Park unbeaten this year but with loads to improve on and in my opinion it’s the perfect situation.”

Hegarty, along with former Galway star Joe Canning was speaking of Bord Gáis Energy’s ‘State of Play’ campaign to promote allyship and inclusion in team sports. As part of the campaign, Bord Gáis Energy, sponsor of the GAA All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, has created 32 limited edition GAA County Pride t-shirts where county pride meets pride in supporting the LGBTQI+ community.

The t-shirts are on sale from hairybaby.com for €20 and all proceeds will go to Focus Ireland to support young members of the LGBTQI+ community who are experiencing homelessness.
