Quarter Final pairings confirmed for Limerick Senior Hurling Championship

The race for the Daly Cup is down to six after the final round of games were played this weekend.

The Limerick Senior Hurling Championship quarter-final pairings have been confirmed after the draw was made earlier today.

After topping group two and earning promotion to the top tier for 2023, Kildimo Pallaskenry have been paired with Doon, who finished behind second placed Kilmallock on scoring difference.

Patrickswell, who were the final team to book their quarter-final spot, will face South Liberties who will be competing in a third successive quarter-final.

KP and Doon will kick off the quarter finals on Saturday October 8 at 3.30pm with the same venue hosting the other tie the following day at 2pm.

Kildimo Pallaskenry have arguably been the story of the championship, winning a third promotion in five years as they prepare for a senior quarter-final for the first time since the 1940s.

They face the unenviable task of Doon who have reached the final four in each of the last five seasons. The East side were runners up in 2020 and 2018, coming through South Liberties in the quarters in the former. Last year they finished second in the group to advance straight into the semi-finals.

Patrickswell, are seeking to reach the semi-finals for the eighth successive year. Last year they had to overcome a dogged Adare side in the quarters while they beat this year’s opponents at the same stage in 2018, winning 1-26 to 1-13.

South Liberties, despite their poor record at the stage, are seasons competitors in the quarter-finals, reaching the mark in four of the last five seasons. Last year, the eventual champions Kilmallock needed extra-time to see them off while they were bested by Doon in 2020 and the Well the previous year. They are yet to make it past the quarter-final stages since promotion to the top tier in 2009.

Na Piarsaigh and Kilmallock await in the semi-finals which are scheduled to take place on the weekend of October 15/16.
