The province have only managed one win from their opening four matches this season.
Munster take to Thomond Park for the first time this season this weekend when they face the Vodacom Bulls in the URC this Saturday.
The side failed to build on their round three victory over Zebre when they were defeated 20-11 to Connacht in the first Interpro of the season last Friday.
The result leaves the side in twelfth with only six points to their name and the performances on the pitch have been disappointing for the Munster faithful.
However, speaking to the media, coach Denis Leamy is convinced by what he’s seen in training but admits the side are yet to replicate that form into the matches.
“Yes, we haven’t quite clicked, as to date, on the pitch, but we believe on the evidence that we’ve seen through getting fitter, through playing under pressure, through developing different aspects of the game that there’s big performances.”
Leamy was joined by scrum-half Craig Casey who previewed Saturday’s clash against the Bulls.
Casey, who also touched upon his frustration with the slow start to the campaign, expects a physical battle from the South African side but believes they’ve done enough work to understand their game.
“The Bulls are a very physical side, I think everyone knows that. They’re quite physical through the middle and then they try to whip it wide and get their pace on the ball which they have lots of that as well,”
“We’ve looked at that, Leams has given us quite the detail on that, we had good discussions, so that’s went well we know exactly what we’re expecting, I know they’re off the back of a loss as well so they’ll be rearing to go.”
Munster face Vodacom Bulls at 19:35 this Saturday at Thomond Park in the United Rugby Championship.
