Limerick’s Munster Hurling League clash with Kerry moved to Tralee

The game will be Limerick’s second in three days after they open their 2023 campaign this Saturday in Pairc Ui Rinn.

Limerick’s Munster Hurling League clash with Kerry on Tuesday, January 17 will now be played at Austin Stack Park in Tralee as Munster GAA confirmed a change in venue on Monday afternoon.

The game was initially scheduled to be played Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale with the throw-in time of 7pm unchanged.

It will be Limerick’s second game in three days after they open their 2023 campaign in Pairc Ui Rinn against Cork this Sunday.

Kerry will be looking to bounce back from a 2-30 to 2-17 defeat to Cork last Thursday as the game could act as a dead rubber should Limerick fall to the Rebels this Sunday.

Limerick and Kerry met at the semi-final stage of the Munster Hurling League last year where the hosts ran out comfortable 4-29 to 0-11 winners in their TUS Gaelic Grounds. Limerick went on to claim the January title before adding Munster and All-Ireland honours later in 2022.

Limerick’s last trip to Tralee came in the 2019 Munster Hurling League where they were 4-14 to 0-11 winners in Austin Stack Park. Barry Murphy, Oisin O’Reilly, David Reidy and Graeme Mulcahy were amongst the goals in Limerick’s first win since claiming the All-Ireland title the previous August.

Next Tuesday’s clash will be Limerick’s last before they kick off their League campaign in Pairc Ui Chaoimh on February 4.
