Shane Kelly names Limerick U20 side for O’Connor Cup tie with Offaly

Kelly has made a number of changes to the team that were beaten by the Banner a fortnight ago with four personnel alterations to that XV.

Shane Kelly has named his Limerick U20 side to take on Offaly in the third round of the Liam O’Connor Cup this Saturday in Mick Neville Park.

Throw-in is at 3.30pm with a place in the final against Clare on offer for both sides. Both teams have already been beaten by Clare with Offaly falling to a 1-12 to 1-9 defeat in the opening round while Limerick lost out by fifteen points two weeks ago. Both beat Tipperary.

Offaly were All-Ireland champions in 2021 but only scraped past Limerick in the O’Connor Cup twelve months ago in UL.

Kelly has made a number of changes to the team that were beaten by the Banner a fortnight ago with four personnel alterations to that XV.

Elsewhere, team captain Diarmuid Buckley reverts to corner back with Aaron Neville named at centre-back. Eoin McGrath comes into the team at #7. Jack McCarthy and Diarmuid Ryan make up a new midfield partnership with the Feenagh Kilmeedy man at wing forward last time out. Darragh Murray moves to full forward with Sean Geraghty coming in in the corner. Bobby Smith also moves up to the forwards where he is named at 12.

If Limerick fail to pick up a result it will signal the end of their O’Connor Cup campaign with the next clash their championship quarter-final with Waterford on April 10.
