Iris Kennelly selected on Ladies HEC Rising Star team for second season running

THE Yoplait HEC All-Stars and Rising Stars have been announced following the conclusion of the 2023 Championships.

Limerick’s Iris Kennelly has been named on the Yoplait HEC Rising Stars team after helping TUS MidWest to a second successive Ladies HEC title as they claimed the Donaghy Cup last month.

It is a second award on the trot for the Old Mill player who has been integral to both the Donaghy and Lagan Cup triumphs over the last two seasons.

In this year’s final, where they beat UL 4, Kennelly kicked 0-4 in the second half to power TUS MidWest to another promotion and seal a second successive Rising Star Award.

Kennelly will be key to Limerick’s hopes in this weekend’s National League semi-final as they take on Antrim in Kinnegad, looking to return to the same stage as they did in 2022. The Old Mill native has already kicked four goals in just two appearances for the county this Spring.

She is one of two TUS MidWest players on the squad, joining final player of the match Chloe Towey. UL, who lost their crown to DCU in the O’Connor Cup final have five players chosen to the All-Star team with the champions having eight chosen.

The winners will receive their awards on Friday March 31 at The Bonnington Dublin Hotel.
