Top spot on offer as the Limerick Ladies Footballers welcome Down in final group game

The Shannonsiders have already booked their place in the final four of the competition following last week’s win over Sligo, and the game represents a chance for Shine and to top the table.

Graham Shine’s Limerick welcome Down to Newcastle West this weekend for the final round of the All-Ireland Ladies Football Junior Championship. The Shannonsiders have already booked their place in the final four of the competition following last week’s win over Sligo, and the game represents a chance for Shine to try some new things with his side.

Top spot in the group is also on offer as the undefeated teams prepare to face off in Newcastle West. The game will be streamed live by the LGFA with throw in at 1pm.

Following a first round win over Kilkenny, two goals from Cathy Mee the the last time out helped Limerick beat Sligo, and secure their semi-final spot in Sunday’s venue. It will be a fourth successive All-Ireland semi-final for the Shannonsiders since their relegation from Intermediate in 2019.

However, they will have their hands full before the last four tie as they take on an impressive Ulster outfit.

Down have also qualified for the semi-final stage, following their impressive wins over Kilkenny and Sligo with a place atop group one the only thing on offer for either side.

Still, neither will be keen on seeing their 100% record ended as they approach the knockout stages of the competition.

On the other side of the draw, there is much to play for in the final round with Carlow and London still vying for the final qualification spot.
