Limerick’s Paudie O’Connor named as captain of Lincoln City

O’Connor represented Regional United, Kilcornan and Breska Rovers while he was a key figure for Limerick FC when they won the First Division title in 2016.

Limerick native Paudie O’Connor has been named the captain of English League One side Lincoln City. The defender has made 54 appearances for the Imps since joining in 2022, and is set to take on a big leadership role in the 23/34 season.

The 26-year-old played a big role in helping Mark Kennedy’s team secure a top-half finish last year, and his manager is delighted to have him as captain.

“He should be very proud of himself, it’s thoroughly deserved – we have a fantastic captain with Paudie wearing the armband.”

“We’ve got lots of leaders but it was important to pick the right captain to represent the club, and Paudie is that.”

O’Connor made 40 appearances for Limerick FC between 2015 and 2017, before joining Leeds United.

He spent majority of his career at Bradford City, where he played 106 times, but now finds himself as captain of an exciting Lincoln City side.

O’Connor left Bradford for Lincoln last season after four years at the club where he was named Players’ Player of the Year successive seasons.

In Ireland, O’Connor represented Regional United, Kilcornan and Breska Rovers while he was a key figure for Limerick FC when they won the First Division title in 2016.
