Lavin was recently in fantastic form at the 151st edition of the National Track and Field Championships, as she brought home two gold medals.
Limerick’s Sarah Lavin is in the form of her life as she prepares to compete in the World Championships in Belgrade tomorrow.
Lavin is one of 24 Irish athletes involved at the championships which began on Sunday afternoon in Hungary.
The Irish squad, which is the largest ever selected for a World Athletics Championships will join over 2,000 athletes from 200 countries at the World Athletics Championships which take place in the Hungarian capital of Budapest from 19-27 August.
In all, 15 of the 24 Irish athletes selected for Budapest 2023 have set new personal bests in their respective events this year, including Lavin, making the prospect of surpassing last year’s total of nine ‘top-24 placings’ at the World Championships in Oregon very much a possibility.
The Emerald Athletics star will begin her journey on Tuesday evening at 6.40pm in the Women’s 100m Hurdles.

Lavin was recently in fantastic form at the 151st edition of the National Track and Field Championships, as she brought home two gold medals. The Emerald AC athlete set three PBs on her way to winning the 100m gold, having ran out winner in the 100m hurdles the day before.
Lavin recorded a lifetime best time of 11.53 as she claimed the 100m title, yet another fantastic achievement for the 29-year-old.
Just a month ago, Lavin fulfilled a life long ambition as she claimed the bronze medal for Ireland in the 100m hurdles at the European Games.
The athlete has already confirmed her qualification for the Paris Olympics next summer, and she will no doubt be hoping to keep up her top form ahead of the Games.
It will be consecutive Olympic Games appearances for Lavin, who represented Ireland at the 2020 Games in Tokyo, and the Limerick native was also a flagbearer for the team at the European Games.
