Games of years gone by recounted in new a book about Limerick’s greatest hurlers

The book leads the reader through 30 games from the point of view of former and current Limerick stars including Gary Kirby, Ciarán Carey and Seán Finn.

There is a treat in store for Limerick GAA followers in a new book that will hit the bookshelves this month – ‘Limerick Game of My Life’.

The new publication from Hero Books is written by David Byrne and chronicles a game from plenty of Limerick Hurling’s greatest ever stars.

From the 1955 Munster semi-final between Limerick and Waterford to the epic All-Ireland SHC final win over Galway in 2018 and the record-breaking All-Ireland final against Cork in 2021, thirty of the greatest Limerick hurlers over the last almost 70 years tell of the games in green and white that defined their lives.

Including first-person testimonials from many of the stars of the 1973 All-Ireland winning team, and also teams from The Treaty County that got to All-Ireland finals in the 90s, noughties and the current history-making side, household names who played with the county throughout the last 70 years talk about the one game they will always remember

The new book leads the reader through 30 Limerick, and club games from the point of view of former Limerick stars including Gary Kirby, Ciarán Carey, Dan Morrissey, Seán Finn, Mike Casey, Niall Moran, Ollie Moran, Andrew Shaughnessy, Éammon Grimes, Éamonn Cregan and many more.

“I am privileged to be able to share the fascinating stories of these 30 hurling legends,”

“Limerick Game of My Life is not only a look back on games gone by, but an exciting journey through the past, what makes these 30 men tick, and what got them to that stage of their hurling career. I am really excited to bring to you these stories from both on and off the field.”

David Byrne

The publication also tells of the many ups and downs of the 30 stars, both on and off the field, one that is set to enthral Limerick hurling fans throughout the world.

Limerick Game of My Life is available in all good bookstores from the week ending, Sunday, October 1st.
