Tommy Barrett on Thomas Considine’s two goal display.
Treaty United manager Tommy Barrett has hailed new signing Thomas Considine after he fired his team to a 3-1 victory over Cobh Ramblers on Friday night.
Treaty took the lead in the first half courtesy of a Cobh own goal and could have grabbed a second when Considine missed a glorious chance from close range.
That didn’t discourage the 21-year-old dribbler, however. In the second half, with the game levelled up at 1-1, the former Wexford FC man took the game by the scruff of the neck by scoring two “top class goals”.
Tommy Barrett hails Thomas Considine after Treaty debut.
“Look, I was delighted for him because he’s been out fourteen months,” explained Barrett to Sporting Limerick when asked about Considine’s starring performance post-match.
“He’s been excellent since he came in and what I really liked about it was that he didn’t drop the head when he missed a sitter.
“He missed from two yards. He should be scoring that, obviously, but he didn’t drop the head. He was confident from the tip off and then got two top class goals.
Team performance.
“I thought all the new boys were very good, like Oisin O’Reilly was very good at left-back, his distribution was really good. Stephen Christopher was excellent at right-back – I know he’s not new – playing out of position.
“Scott Kirkland, I thought, had a superb game in that six [position], the two boys ahead of him [Conroy and Devitt] rattling around the place.
“Enda closed his eyes for one and he should have scored it,” added Barrett with a smirk, “he won’t like that, I’m only having a little rib at him!
“Enda is always a threat and in fairness to him, he was very unlucky in the first-half, it was a world class save”
