Treaty blow two goal lead to battling Bray Wanderers | HIGHLIGHTS

With half-time approaching, it was time for Thomas Considine to show the Treaty faithful what he can do once more.

Treaty United’s winning start to the season came to a halt on Friday night, although they remain unbeaten following a 2-2 draw with Bray Wanderers at the Markets Field.

The Shannonsiders have slipped to second on the First Division table, with Cork City rising to top spot on goal difference after their 2-0 win over Longford Town.

It has been an excellent few weeks for the Treaty United fans, and they were cheering just two minutes in when club captain Mark Walsh rose highest to turn home a Willie Armshaw corner.

A perfect start for Tommy Barrett’s troops.

With half-time approaching, it was time for Thomas Considine to show the Treaty faithful what he can do once more.

Considine, who was nominated for the League of Ireland player of the month award, picked the ball up on his right flank and attacked the Bray box.

The former Wexford FC man has shown how effective his left boot is, but opted to take this one onto his weaker side, finishing low for his third of the season.

It meant the hosts headed into the interval with a 2-0 lead, and Markets Field was bouncing.

Shane Griffin stepped up to take a penalty for the visitors with less than 20 minutes to go, and he held his nerve to finish calmly past Corey Chambers. Game on.

With the clock ticking into the final ten, Thomas Morgan stepped up with the equaliser for his side, neatly finishing a low cross off the back of some good work from Guillermo Almirall.

Chambers produced an excellent save in added time to prevent the point from slipping out of Treaty’s hands, and keep their unbeaten streak alive.

Barrett’s men are back in First Division action on Saturday, as they travel to Longford Town, who prop up the table following their winless start to the season.
