Newcastle West through to the SFC final

Newcastle West saw off defending champions Monaleen by 7 points on Sunday on a 2-10 to 0-9 scoreline to book their place in the county senior football championship final.

Limerick senior footballer Jamie Lee claimed both goals for the west Limerick side in either half 13 minutes into the game and 10 minutes after the restart.

Just 4 points seperated the sides at half time but Lee’s second goal put Newcastle West firmly in the driving seat.

Monaleen closed the gap to 5 points in the 54th minute, but the 2015 champions didn’t panic and went on to claim the last two points of the game, Lee again involved as he claimed the last score from a free.

Newcastle West now await the winners of next Sunday’s second semi-final between Dromcollogher Broadford and Adare.
