Speaking to the TV3 sports reporter Nucifora is hopeful that an agreement can be reached and stressed that getting someone who was a good fit for the province was of paramount importance.
“We are talking closely with someone and we would be hopeful that things would continue to go well and an agreement might be reached.
“Things can change very quickly, but there is a lot of progress that has been made. We would be hopeful in the coming weeks that we would have something to announce.
When asked if he believed the new coach would be a good fit for the province, the Australian responded:
“We do. That has been the key thing all along. We did not want to rush it. We wanted to make sure we had the right person.”
In recent weeks, Rassie Erasmus has confirmed that fellow South African Dave Wessels is in the running to replace him at the province. Wessels worked under Erasmus at the Stormers in Super Rugby and last season coached the Perth based Western Force before the Australian franchise was disbanded.
