Adare and Ahane play out stalemate in SHC opener

There was no separating the sides in a repeat of the 2020 relegation final.

Adare and Ahane played out a stalemate to kick start the 2022 Limerick SHC last night.

Second half goals from Tom Morrissey and Willie Griffin ensured a draw as it finished 1-15 apiece.

The sides were level four times in the opening half, before Adare pulled clear down the stretch for a 0-11 to 0-7 advantage.

Morrissey’s goal had the teams level just three minutes into the second half at 0-12 to 1-9.

Ahane did edge ahead briefly but Griffin’s strike had Adare up two with twenty to play.

Ahane levelled proceedings for a sixth time with as many minutes to go but Adare had the lead twice more down the stretch.

But it was Ahane with the advantage heading into injury time before David O’Mahony found the equaliser in the 62nd minute.

Elsewhere, Caherline in their first game in the intermediate ranks, drew 1-15 all with Croom.
