Adare and Doon play out entertaining SHC draw

Adare and Doon could not be separated at the LIT Gaelic Grounds as their Bon Secours Hospital Limerick SHC clash finished 1-19 to 0-22.

Both sides had chances to earn victory but honours finished even when John Fitzgibbon landed his fifth point, a ’65 deep into added time.

The Group now sees Patrickswell on two points, while Doon and Adare have one each. Patrickswell play Doon in the final group game next weekend.

The sides were level four times in the opening 13 minutes but Doon took control with four on the trot from Pat Ryan, Josh Ryan, Jack Ryan and Denis Moloney.

Adare settled again in the final stages of the half and went in 0-12 to 0-11 ahead at the break by scoring nine of the next 11 points.

Brendan O’Connor’s goal and a Willie Griffin point then gave Adare a four point advantage and control of the game in the early stages of the second half.

However, Doon hit back through Jack Cummins and Jack Ryan either side of another Griffin score.

The Tony Ward managed Doon outfit hit form then, inspired by a sumptuous Darragh O’Donovan sideline and one each from Barry Murphy, Jack Ryan and Pat Ryan.

Murphy and Griffin swapped frees as the game entered the final stages before O’Donovan’s long range placed ball looked to have secured victory for Adare.

Goal chances followed for Adare but they had to settle for Fitzgibbon’s leveller and will now need Patrickswell to do them a favour when they play Doon next weekend.
