The Fairview man was named in centre midfield for the clash in Whitehall last night.
Newcastle West native and Fairview Rangers star AJ O’Connor played his part from the start as the Irish Amateurs defeated the U20’s side in a friendly at Home Farm on Tuesday evening.
Glen Daly of Malahide Town had the games only goal in the first half of an even encounter.
O’Connor was named from the start and was replaced by Aaron Humphreys on the hour mark. O’Connor was the only Limerick based player named in the squad.
Gerry Davis’ ceded much possession to the younger side but took their chance and were able to keep their opponents at bay throughout. They now focus attention to the UEFA Regions Cup later this year.
It continues an incredible year for O’Connor who captained Fairview to the Presidents Cup title in November after they claimed FAI Cup Honours the previous year.
O’Connor was also named in the Irish Regions side alongside clubmate Stephen Bradley.
The Newcastle West man also managed to find time for Gaelic Football amidst all other successes, helping the side to the Senior Football Championship in October, grabbing the only goal of the game in the decider.
