All-Ireland runners-up Bruff well represented in Junior B All-Star side

The South Limerick side came up just short in the All-Ireland final in Killeedy against Sarsfields on February 25.

Bruff have had five players named on the 2023 Junior B All-Ireland Series All-Star team. The Limerick side reached the final in Killeedy but were beaten by Galway and Leinster champions Sarsfields in the decider two weeks ago.

Bruff had beaten Doon in the Limerick decider before overcoming Thurles Sarsfields for the Munster title in Killeedy in January. The men from South Limerick were then narrowly defeated in the All-Ireland final, losing out 1-9 to 0-9.

The five Bruff men chosen are Niall Brosnan, David Mulqueen, Oisin Muqueen, Cian Madden and David Browne. Brosnan and the Mulqueen’s make up the entirety of the full back line ahead of St Martins netminder Oisin Kelly who Bruff beat in the last four.

Madden is named at wing back while Browne is at top of the left following a string of scoring exhibitions.

Kerril Wade was named as the Player of the Championship and he is one of five Sarsfields men included in the XV. Elsewhere, Thurles Sarsfields have three with St Martins providing the other two.

Although the disappointment of the All-Ireland final loss will linger for Bruff, they will have both Premier Intermediate and Junior A hurling to look forward to later in the year. The first team were beaten by eventual All-Ireland champions Monaleen in the Limerick final while the second-string side are paired with Drom Broadford, Mungret St Pauls, Rathkeale, Doon and Blackrock in their return to the A ranks.
