All-Ireland winner included as Ray Dempsey unveils Limerick Senior Football Management Team

Limerick will kick off their 2023 season in the McGrath Cup this Winter.

New Limerick Senior Football Manager Ray Dempsey has unveiled his management team for the upcoming season.

Dempsey brings with him a wealth of experience as he replaces the outgoing Billy Lee who spent six years at the helm, guiding Limerick from Division 4 to 2 for next season.

Demspey, who guided his native Knockmore to successive Mayo senior titles, has added Anthony Maher, Eoin Joy, Mark Fitzgerald, John Chawke, Martin Barrett and Michael Downey to his backroom team.

Anthony Maher is a two time All-Ireland winner with Kerry with the Duagh man also winning an All-Star in 2015. He has been involved with Adare in recent years in the Limerick SFC.

Abbeyfeale native Eoin Joy has previously represented the Limerick senior footballers while Kerins O’Rahilly’s man Mark Fitzgerald was involved with the Kerry minor footballers.

The three will act as coaches, as will Martin Barrett, who led his native Kiltane when they won the 2012 Mayo and Connacht Intermediate championships. He will also act as a selector.

Kildimo Pallaskenry’s John Chawke will dovetail his role as a selector with that of goalkeeping coach, a position he held with the Limerick U20s footballers last year. He also coached his local club to the senior football ranks in 2021.

Martin Downey of Feohanagh Castlemahon rounds out the management team as a selector.
