Following a disappointing showing on day 2 of the SFAI Kennedy Cup, all three Limerick Schoolboy League sides were victorious on Thursday in their respective quarter finals.
Limerick County advanced to the semi-final of the Kennedy Trophy following a 1-0 win over North Eastern Counties and will now face Limerick Desmond League in an all-Limerick clash on pitch 1 at 10.30 on Friday morning.
Limerick Desmond joined their County rivals in the semi-final with a 2-1 win over North Tipperary. Ethan Browne of Kildimo United was amongst the goals for Billy O’Sullivan’s team who had taken the lead but were pegged back by a goal from Michael O’Sullivan of Nenagh AFC before grabbing the winner late on.
In the Kennedy Bowl competition, Limerick District Schoolboy League overcame their disappointment at not reaching the Kennedy Cup quarter-finals by a narrow margin when they defeated South Belfast Youth League 1-0 on Thursday afternoon. Jai McNamara of Pike Rovers converted a second half penalty to confirm their passage.
Noel O’Connor’s side failed to make the last eight of the first competition despite not losing a game in the group stage but were pipped by a strong North Dublin side. Limerick District will now face the Midlands Schoolboy League on pitch 1 at 12.30pm on Friday afternoon looking to book their place in the Bowl final. They will be buoyed by the fact that they have now managed to keep three clean sheets in a row heading into the semi-final.
