Ard Scoil Ris face Midleton in Harty Cup Final

Ardscoil Rís look for fifth Harty Cup crown in nine years.

Ardscoil Rís take on Midleton CBS this Saturday in the 2018 Harty Cup final in Mallow. For Ardscoil this will be a fifth Harty Cup final since the turn of the decade.

Indeed Ardscoil are yet to taste defeat in the final with victories in 10′, 11′, 14′ and 16′. As for Midleton they last won the title back in 3006 and are the last Cork side to have won the competition.

Last year these sides met at the quarter final stage where Midleton came out victorious in a thrilling reply after the sides could not be separated the first time of asking.

However, the North Curcular road school came out winners by a point when these sides met in the group stages this year, winning out 2-16 to 1-18.

Ardscoil will enter the game as slight favourites but will be wary of a talented Midleton school who destroyed last years champions, Our Lady’s Templemore in the semi finals by xxxx.

This Ardscoil Ris team is not short on big match experience however. Adare’s Ronan Connolly, captain of the side, played in the 2016 decider as did Paul O Brien and Jerome Boylan. Rory Duff and Rian Considine were part of the 16′ panel.

Connolly, Boylan, O’Brien and David Woulfe all also started in Limerick’s loss to Tipperary in the 2016 All Ireland Minor Hurling final.

Yet, Midleton have shown how dangerous they are this year with their only setback coming against Ardscoil in the group stages. This has all the makings of a classic and you can follow all the action with us as we will be streaming live from Mallow on our YouTube channel. Throw in on Saturday is 1.30pm.
