Six Limerick schools discover Post Primary Hurling knockout opponents as Ardscoil Rís paired with familiar face in Harty Cup

The draws for the knockout stages of the TUS sponsored Munster Post Primary School championships took place earlier today.

Ardscoil Rís will face familiar opponents in the quarter-finals of the Dr Harty Cup as they were today paired with Our Lady’s Templemore.

That game will take place on Wednesday January 11 with the other quarter-finals also down for decision on that date. These sides met in the 2016 final where the Limerick side collected a fourth title. The Tipp outfit went on to claim their second championship the following year.

The winners will play either CBC Cork or Cashel CS in the semi-finals. Ardscoil Rís had a dramatic win over Cashel in the opening round of this year’s competition.

Last year, Ardscoil Rís reached their sixth ever final but were beaten for the first time as they fell to St Joseph’s Tulla in an exciting final. But the North Circular Road school rebounded to record a first ever Croke Cup win on St Patrick’s day.

This year they have seen off Cashel and St Flannan’s to book their knockout berth. Our Lady’s Templemore were group runners up to Thurles CBS. They were beaten by their county rivals but defeated Youghal and Rochestown to seal a quarter-final place.

The semi-finals will take place on Saturday January 21st with the final a fortnight later.

CBC Cork v Cashel CS

Ardscoil Rís v Our Lady’s Templemore

Midleton CBS v De La Salle Waterford

Thurles CBS v St Comans Fermoy

Elsewhere in the U19 B Hurling (Thomais Mhic Choilm), Castletroy College will take on Colaiste Choilm Ballincollig in the last eight. They are the only Limerick side left in contention.

In the U19 C Hurling (Risteard Ui Mhathuna) draw, Salesian College Pallaskenry will face the winners of SMI Newcastle or Scoil Ruan in the quarter-finals. Hazelwood College will meet Borrisokane CC in the last eight. If Scoil Pol Kilfinane can overcome Mitchelstown then they will face Scariff CC in the quarters.
