Attacking Limerick put Tipperary to the sword in NFL

Limerick 2-21 (2-1-19)
Tipperary 3-8 (3-1-6)

By Tom Clancy in Rathkeale

Goals from Emmet Rigter and veteran Peter Nash ensured Limerick eventually had too much for Munster rivals Tipperary in Mick Neville Park Rathkeale.

Despite the concession of three goals during this high-tempo contest, the Shannonsiders were worthy winners and add to victories over London and Carlow, both secured in February, away from home.

The victory brings promotion firmly into the sights of this exciting Limerick team – who played without Cillian Fahy and Barry Coleman.

Limerick were to lead 1-13 to 2-7 at half-time, with the concession of two early goals replied to by Emmet Rigter’s well-taken goal.

There was a second goal for Peter Nash at the end of the third quarter, which quickly cancelled out Tipperary’s third goal.

From here Limerick eased to victory with further scores pulling them well clear – Danny Neville, Tadhg Ó Siochrú and Killian Ryan all on target.

Limerick move up the table to seven points – with a trip to Wicklow to come. Waterford is the final game with promotion a real possibility.
