Blackrock and Granagh Ballingarry crowned Junior B Champions

Both of the Limerick Junior B Championship finals took place on Sunday afternoon.

Blackrock picked up their first ever Junior B Hurling title on Sunday as Granagh Ballingarry claimed the football honours.

In a repeat of the South final where Blackrock fell to a two point loss, the Rockies were on the right side of a 0-16 to 0-11 result against Bruff this time around in the County Junior B Hurling Championship Final.

Granagh Ballingarry made it three from three against Knockaderry in 2021, claiming a 0-10 to 0-2 win in the county final.

Bruff, who were 1-12 to 1-10 winners last month when the sides met, raced into an early 0-6 to 0-1 lead in Kilmallock.

And they led by double scores 0-8 to 0-4 as the ref called for the half.

But the second half belonged to Blackrock and by the second waterbreak they were two clear of their opponents.

From here they didn’t let up and in the end the margin was five as they claimed a maiden title.

In the County Junior B Football Championship Final, Granagh Ballingarry made up for defeat in the 2018 final as they had eight points to spare against Knockaderry in a repeat of the West final.

Knockaderry opened the scoring inside four minutes before Granagh Ballingarry replied three minutes later.

Knockadery regained the lead after 12 minutes to take a lead into the waterbreak. But this was to be their last score of the afternoon as Granagh Ballingarry took over.

They didn’t find their first lead of the day until the 27th minute as a quickfire double was enough for a 0-3 to 0-2 lead at the half.

But inside three minutes of the restart, the lead was out to as many which was extended to 0-7 to 0-2 by the final waterbreak.

Three more unanswered scores followed as Granagh Ballingarry sealed their promotion to the Junior ranks for 2022.
