Limerick are currently bottom of Division 2 of the League and have failed to pick up a win from their first five rounds of games. The Shannonsiders did pick up their first point at the weekend with a draw with Meath.

Dempsey was appointed as new Limerick Senior manager in October of 2022, replacing Billy Lee who stood down after six years in charge where he helped the side from Division 4 to the second tier.

The Mayo native won a pair of county titles with his own club Knockmore prior to his arrival in Limerick.

However, results haven’t gone to plan despite the side reaching the McGrath Cup final in January. Derry, Dublin and Cork have inflicted heavy defeats on Limerick in the league with the result in Pairc Ui Chaoimh particularly bad.

Limerick have yet to appoint a successor but are at home next weekend to Kildare in a do-or-die league clash that could see them relegated if they were to lose.

However, a win would set up a final-day showdown with Clare in Cusack Park as Limerick know a pair of wins will be enough to secure safety.
