The British and Irish Lions match this coming weekend against the Bulls has been postponed due to a Covid-19 outbreak. The touring side will now look for a rescheduled date or another opponent for their warm-up game.
One member of the management staff and four players had positive test results. Making it impossible for the Lions scheduled opponents for Saturday to field a team.
The Springbok’s next match against Georgia initially scheduled for Friday could now also be under threat with 11 positive cases within their camp.
Warren Gatland’s men will however go ahead with their game this Wednesday against the Sharks.
With South Africa recording a record number of daily cases only recently, this puts doubt over the completion of the tour. The country is in a strict lockdown with numbers not appearing to be easing anytime soon.
Final decisions on South Africa’s match with Georgia will be made in due time as well as whether or not the lions will indeed reschedule their game with the Bulls.
