CANCELLED: 2020/21 Desmond Soccer League season cancelled

The 2020/2021 Desmond Soccer League season has officially been cancelled.

The news comes with clubs not scheduled to return to action until early June. The season had begun in early October, with a full round of games across the divisions.

However, only one round of games were played before the season was suspended.

This will be the second consecutive year that the season will go unfinished with the 2019/20 season postponed in March of last year in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

The decision to cancel the season was confirmed by Eddie O’Shaughnessy of the Limerick Desmond League earlier today.

“The M/C wish to advise you that having taken the clubs vote into account on season ending. The guidelines are for clubs to return on 7/6/21. Therefore in light of all these fact we have decided that 20/21 season is to be officially ended as time restraints are not in our favour. We do hope to start the 21/22 season as early as possible and depending on HSE guidance.”
