Limerick reached their second All-Ireland quarter-final in four years over the weekend.
Limerick’s ace forward Caoimhe Costelloe has been nominated for the Pwc / GPA Women’s player of the month after a string of dazzling displays for her county.
The Adare native was a key reason in Limerick’s upturn in fortunes that saw Limerick qualify for the All-Ireland quarter-finals for only the second time in the last 17 years.
Costelloe bagged 0-9 in their two point win over Offaly, matching the Leinster sides total in Cappamore.
She was again a scoring force in the 2-11 to 0-12 victory over Down as she shot all but one of Limerick’s scores.
She helped Limerick seal their quarter-final place with a 0-6 haul over the weekend.
Those victories followed a pair of losses to start the season as Limerick knew nothing less than three wins would be enough to qualify for the knockout stages to which they duly delivered.
Next up for Costelloe and co is the All-Ireland quarter-final meeting with Waterford in Thurles on Saturday July 16 at 3.15pm.
Costelloe is up against Cork’s Katrina Mackey and Carrie Dolan of Galway. Both of those sides are into the All-Ireland semi-finals.
