Caseys condemn Na Piarsaigh to relegation play off in SFC

Fr Caseys got their 2020 Limerick SFC campaign off to a winning start as they beat Na Piarsaigh 1-13 to 1-11 in Mick Neville Park last night.

That win sets up a top of the table clash with Adare next weekend for Caseys while Na Piarsaigh are headed for the relegation play offs.

The sides exchanged scores to open the game with the scores level at 0-2 apiece after ten.

Na Piarsaigh, who had the aid of a gentle breeze in the first half, held a 0-3 to 0-2 lead at the first water break with Dylan Cronin’s mark the difference.

Gordon Browne and Kieran Daly stretched the lead for the City side after the restart.

The Abbeyfeale side would get the next three scores but Browne would have the final day of the half as Nap lead by the minimum at the break.

The sides traded points after the short whistle before Caseys drew level after 43.

They would follow up with the most important score of the game as Chris Smith got the first goal of the evening on the stroke of the second water break.

Caseys would not miss a beat on the restart as they pushed 1-13 to 0-9 ahead heading into injury time.

The West side would not score in the remaining time as two unanswered points were followed by an Anthony Kavanagh goal to give Nap late hope.

It would prove too little to late as Caseys held on for why was a deserved win.
