In Musgrave Park last Wednesday, there was nothing to separate the sides after a blistering conclusion to the game.
Crescent College and CBC of Cork will do it all again on Thursday afternoon as they meet in the Munster School’s Senior Cup semi-final replay after last week’s thrilling draw in Musgrave Park.
This time around, the Limerick school will have home advantage as they return to Thomond Park, the venue where they won the title in 2022 with kick-off at 2pm this Thursday.
The game will be live-streamed by the Examiner on their website from 1.45pm. The final will be played next Tuesday March 12 in Musgrave Park.
In Musgrave Park, there was nothing to separate the sides after a blistering conclusion to the game. It ended 15 apiece as the reigning champions came back from the dead to rescue the draw.
Trailing by 15-3 with less than five minutes to play, Crescent College had a lifeline when substitute Cathal Lanigan Ryan crossed the whitewash off a set-piece move. And with time in the red, Eoin O’Callaghan touched down in the corner to bring his side within two. Out on the sideline, the centre dusted himself down before adding the difficult conversion to ensure a replay.
Crescent College will be hoping to earn a repeat of last year’s final where they bettered PBC in Thomond Park. The Cork school booked their final spot with an epic 36-29 win over St Munchins last Thursday.
If CBC come through tomorrow’s game, it will set up a repeat of the 2020 final where the sides had to share the victory following the onset of the Covid pandemic.
CBC are record winners with 31 titles, one ahead of PBC while Crescent College have won on 12 occasions, including last year.
