Ciara Neville in flying form at outdoor season opener in Andujar

Limerick athlete Ciara Neville was in action at the World Continental Tour Bronze in Andujar, Spain on Saturday.

Neville, who was competing in her first 100m race in almost two years, was in flying form in the season opener as she finished second in her heat with a time of 11.81, behind Heat winner Ángela Gabriela Tenorio.

In the final later in the evening, with the conditions much more suited to sprinting, Neville slashed .29 off her time which was enough for third place and a podium finish.

It continues a fine run of form for Neville in a year that has been disrupted by injury. In February, she recorded a PB of 7.30 in the 60m while she just missed out on qualification for the finals of the event at the European Indoor Athletics Championship in March.

Attention will now return to Olympic Qualification in Tokyo later this summer.
