Ardscoil Ris were too strong for Glenstal Abbey in yesterday’s Munster Schools Senior Cup game at the Markets Field and came out on top by 27-10.
The much anticipated clash between the two Limerick schools proved to be a one sided affair with Ardscoil scoring four tries to Glenstal’s one.
The game started evenly with Taylor Gleeson putting Glenstal in front with a penalty that was immediately cancelled out by Alex O’Halloran for Ardscoil.
Ardscoil took control on 18 minutes when James Hourigan was quickest to react after to a loose ball on the Glenstal line for the game’s first try that O’Halloran converted.
The North Circular Road school were in for a second try moments later when Jack Ward-Murphy blitzed through the Glenstal defence and finished off a 55 metre run.
Glenstal did get a response in before the break through a well taken Darragh Hanly try, but Ben McEnery’s response saw Ardscoil lead 20-10 at half time.
Scores were at a premium in the second half with Ardscoil eventually scoring a fourth try through John Moloney. They play St Munchin’s in the second round of the Munster Schools Senior Cup.
