Both Clonmel and Castlemahon were victorious in their respective Munster club championship quarter-finals over the weekend.
Each of Limerick’s three Munster club championship representatives will feature in the semi-finals of the province on the weekend of November 26/27.
Both Castlemahon and Na Piarsaigh came through their respective Munster semi-quarter finals with their last four opponents confirmed.
Newcastle West, who received a bye into the semi-finals following Limerick’s appearance in the Munster final, will play a familiar foe in the provincial last four.
They are paired with Clonmel Commericals, who were arguably the standout team of the weekend, as the Tipperary side saw off Nemo Rangers with ease in Pairc Ui Chaoimh.
Goals from Sean O’Connor and Colman Kennedy helped them to a comprehensive 2-15 to 1-11 to the record Munster winners who grabbed a late consolation.
The November 27 clash will be the first of the sides since they met in a memorable 2015 Munster club quarter-final. The Limerick outfit looked set for the last four only for Clonmel to hit six on the spin to steal a 0-12 to 1-7 victory. They would go on to beat Nemo and claim the Munster title.
Na Piarsaigh progressed back to the Munster semi-finals, as they did in 2014, as they saw off Roanmore comfortably in Kilmallock on Saturday.
Evan Sweeney was at the double for the Caherdavin side who sealed a double scores 2-10 to 1-5 win over the Waterford champions.
They will have Tipperary champions Ballina for company in the Munster semi-final on November where they will have home advantage.
Limerick Premier Junior Champions Castlemahon were made to work for their Munster quarter final win over Shamrocks as they edged out the Waterford champions 1-18 to 2-12 in Coolyroe.
Seamus Flanagan and Alan Roche were to the fore for Castlemahon as they combined for 1-13 over the course of the hour.
Their reward is a glamour tie with Fossa of Kerry in Coolyroe on November 26 in the Munster semi-final. Fossa needed superstar brother David and Paudie Clifford to get past Listry in Sunday’s Kerry Junior Final as they kicked 3-13 between them.
Recently, David was named Footballer of the Year after helping Kerry to a first All-Ireland title in eight years while he and his brother have six All-Stars combined.
