Corbett misses out as Dublin Dominate All Star Football team

Limerick’s sole representative in the All-Star nomination list Iain Corbett has missed out on a maiden All-Star with the team announced this morning.

Six-in-a-row All-Ireland winners Dublin dominate the selection with nine players selected overall.

Ulster Champions Cavan have three players, All-Ireland finalists Mayo have two and Conor Sweeney from Tipperary is named.

Limerick joint captain Corbett was nominated among the defenders but misses out as Dublin trio James McCarthy, John Small and Eoin Murchan are selected in the half-back line.

Brian Fenton wins a fifth award in six years while it is a fourth gong for McCarthy and Ciaran Kilkenny.

Raymond Galligan, Oisin Mullen, Padraig Faulkner, John Small, Eoin Murchen, Thomas Galligan, Niall Scully and Conor Sweeney will all receive their first All-Star award.

The Footballer and Young Footballer of the year awards will be announced live on RTÉ 1 tomorrow evening, February 20 from 6.35pm.

There are fourteen Limerick players nominated for hurling All-Stars with Gearoid Hegarty in the running for Hurler of the Year.
