Crescent defeat Clement’s 21-10 in first round of the Junior Cup

Crescent secured the double over their neighbours yesterday, with the first win coming in the Junior Cup tie.

Crescent College Comprehensive’s Junior Cup side faced a much stronger St Clement’s College side than their senior counterpart’s yesterday but still came away with a good 21-10 win in the first round of the competition.

Clement’s looked the better side in the opening exchanges and were rewarded for their efforts when Jamie Pearse got over for their first of the game. The conversion attempt was unsuccessful and when Crescent’s Dean O’Grady got over for his side before half time the two schools went in honours even at the break.

The Dooradoyle school impressed in the second half however scoring 16 unanswered points through Patrick Dolphin and an O’Grady second with Darragh Casserly also knocking over two penalties.

Clement’s did get a consolation sore through out half Cian Casey but it wasn’t enough to secure a quarter final spot.

Crescent now move onto the quarters with Clement’s learning their fate, similar to the seniors, after the final fixtures on Thursday.
