Croagh Kilfinny prove too strong for Patrickswell in Junior A Hurling Final

Croagh Kilfinny confirmed promotion to the Intermediate ranks as they claimed their first ever county title with a comprehensive 2-22 to 0-8 win over Patrickswell.

Croagh Kilfinny, who were dominant throughout, left it late to really pull away from their opponents in the delayed 2020 decider.

The west side got off the mark with a couple of scores before the evergreen Barry Foley replied in kind for the ‘Well.

Croagh Kilfinny were 0-5 to 0-3 ahead at the first water break and with James Lanigan in fine scoring form, they had extended the lead to six approaching the half with Foley pulling one back to leave it 0-10 to 0-5 at the half.

Not to rest on their laurels with a healthy half time advantage, Croagh Kilfinny tacked on the first three scores of the half to move eight clear before Peter Harty got Patrickswell off the mark.

At the second waterbreak, the advantage had been extended out to 0-18 to 0-8 and from here Croagh Kilfiinny took control of proceedings, outscoring their opponents 2-4 to 0-0 down the stretch.

Declan Mullane eventually grabbed the games first goal of the game after Patrickswell goalie Gary Murphy made a fine save.

Mullane bagged his seconds minutes later as Croagh Kilfinny cruised to a deserved victory, confirming their place in the intermediate ranks for 2020.
