Darren Collins Re-Signs for Treaty United as Guerins Departs

Treaty United have announced the re-signing of Darren Collins for the new League of Ireland season. Collins joined Treaty in July 2022 on loan from Sligo Rovers and made a few substitute appearances in the club’s run to the play-offs and FAI Cup semi-final. He will now stay on Shannonside for the whole 2023 campaign.

Collins can play as a striker and a right-back but featured in defence whenever called upon last season. The former Sligo man will be hoping to create a stern challenge for last season’s first choice right-back Ben O’Riordan. In other news, the club have announced that centre-back Sean Guerins will not return for the 2023 season following 2 years with the club.

The news will come as a bitter blow for Treaty fans as Guerins was a stalwart in defence for the last two seasons and aided the club in two play-off campaigns. The Tipperary native has cited a change in work commitments as the reason for his departure.
