Munster prop Dave Kilcoyne is pleased to be making an impact this season, whether it’s in the starting lineup or coming off the bench in the final quarter of matches.
He was part of a dominant Munster scrum in the second half of their 36-22 win over Gloucester in the Champions Cup at Thomond Park last Saturday and is fully focused in doing whatever is asked of him by the coaching staff.
Kilcoyne also spoke of his Ireland ambitions but admitted that the competition for places in his position as as high as it’s ever been.
“I think everyone is hoping from a phone call from Joe Schmidt. You look at the competition for places right across the provinces.
“Even here with James, Boomer (Liam O’Connor) and other lads coming back from injury. You look at the other provinces.
“There is huge strength in depth in Irish rugby at the moment and great headaches for Joe but all you can do is focus on your performance and that’s what I’ve been doing.”
