Treaty United have added defender Andy Spain to their ranks ahead of the 2023 League of Ireland season. Spain spent last season with First Division rivals Athlone Town where he made 19 appearances for the Midlanders and caught the eye of Treaty manager Tommy Barrett.
Spain began his career with Shamrock Rovers at underage level and was captain of a winning Enda McGuill Cup side in 2019. He will add reinforcements to the defensive area following the loss of last year’s centre-back duo Sean Guerins and Callum McNamara.
The 21 year-old joins Ben O’Riordan, Darren Collins, Anthony O’Donnell, Mark Walsh, Marc Ludden and Scott Kirkland as the notable defensive options ahead of the new campaign which kicks off with pre-season friendlies in the coming weeks.
Spain was speaking to the Treaty United media team after the move was completed and is looking forward to the new challenge.
“I’m delighted to sign with Treaty! From speaking with Tommy, he has really big plans for the season and I can’t wait to get going and be part of a really exciting year ahead.”
