The annual event kicks off in Louth this Bank Holiday Monday with Limerick interests in the Senior and U16 competitions.
Limerick’s Colin Ryan puts his Poc Fada title on the line today as the championship takes place in the Cooley Mountains in Louth.
Last year the Pallasgreen native picked up a maiden title in the same venue, following on from a fourth placed finish in 2019.
He heads up a twelve-man field that also includes fellow Limerick man John Chawke, who is no stranger to the event. Bot were involved for their clubs in the opening round of the Limerick club hurling championships over the weekend.
Limerick’s Tadhg Boddy will represent his county and province in the U16 grade after he won the Munster championship recently.
The competition kicks off at 12 noon in Louth with the U16s beginning ten minutes later. It is expected to conclude prior to 3pm.
Ryan became the fifth Limerick man to win the award last September joining Vincent Godfrey, Pat Hartigan, Tommy Quaid and Albert Shanahan.
