Defending champions start with a win while Oola make successful step up | Ladies Football Round Up

Oola made a succesful jump to the senior ranks while defending champions Monaega survived a scare against West rivals Old Mill.

The Limerick Ladies Football championships got underway last weekend, with 12 games taking place across four different divisions.

Old Mill lost out by the minimum to defending champions Monagea in group one of the Senior championship, while Ballylanders picked up a five point win over Feohanagh Castlemahon.

Oola defeated St Ailbe’s on their return to the senior ranks in the only game in group two, winning out by a pair of points.

Group 1

  • Old Mill 1-11 : 0-15 Monagea
  • Ballylanders 1-10 : 1-05 Feohanagh Castlemahon

Group 2

  • St Ailbes 0-10 : 1-09 Oola

Moving to Intermediate, there was three games at this grade, as well as 13 goals, each game packed full of green flags.

Knoackainey, Murroe Boher, and St Brigid’s all picked up wins over Mungret St Pauls, Adare and Galtee Gaels respectively.

  • Knockainey 2-07 : 1-07 Mungret St Paul’s
  • Murroe Boher 6-11 : 1-10 Adare
  • St Brigids 3-04 : 0-13 Galtee Gaels

At Junior A level, Groody Gaels defeated St Ailbe’s by four points, while Athea beat Ahane in the grade’s other game.

  • Groody Gaels 0-13 : 1-06 St Ailbes
  • Athea 0-11 : 0-08 Ahane

Junior B was packed with games, and goals over the weekend, with 21 goals going in across four games.

Croom were the top scorers, as they hit 8-10 in their win over Old Mill, while Monagea and Oola also hit high scores in their victories.
