Diarmuid Mullins appointed new Limerick U20’s Hurling Manager

Just over a month since he lead his minor side to back-to-back Munster Minor Hurling Championships, Diarmuid Mullins has been named as the new manager of the Limerick U20 Hurling team.

Mullins replaces Paul Beary who served two years as manager of the side.

Thomas Quaid will also make the move up from minor to the U20 ranks as a coach with John Mescall and Richie Flannery taking up similar roles.

Darragh Droog will be the Strength and Conditioning coach for both the minors and U20’s.

Mullins’ has two minor football All-Ireland medals with Laois from 1996 & 1997 before moving to Limerick where he is the current principal at Crescent College Comprehensive.

He lead Mungret St Pauls to the Premier Intermediate Ranks in 2016 before taking on the role of Minor manager in 2019.

In his first year of charge he helped Limerick to a first Munster title in five years before falling to Kilkenny in the All-Ireland semi-final.

They would retain their title in December with a 2-22 t 0-25 win over Tipperry AET.

They will face Galway in the semi-finals of the All-Ireland championship later this year.

The winners of that semi final will meet the Leinster champions in the All-Ireland final with Offaly to meet Kilkenny in the provincial final.

There are no fixtures for those games as of yet.

Kevin O’Hagan was ratified as the new manager of the minor side.
