Doon power into Limerick SHC final with 12-point win over Patrickswell

Doon are back in the Limerick SHC Final for the first time since 2020 after they beat Patrickswell by 2-24 to 2-12 in Kilmallock this afternoon.

Adam English top scored for the East Limerick side with 0-9, while Kevin Maher’s two late goals put the game beyond any doubt.

English set Doon on their way after just six seconds with a sublime point and was key in helping his side to a 0-15 to 0-2 advantage after 20 minutes.

Patrickswell recovered with 1-4 without reply in the run up to half time. Patrick Kirby got the goal but it was Doon that finished the half strongly thanks to a Darragh O’Donovan sideline and an English free. That put them 0-17 to 1-6 clear at half time.

‘The Well’ got the opening two scores of the second half but were reduced to 14 men two minutes in after Aaron Gillane was sent off after receiving his second yellow card.

Diarmaid Byrnes was instrumental in keeping Ciarán Carey’s side in the contest as they reduced the gap to four points but Doon finished the game at a canter.

Maher hit the target twice – either side of a Kevin O’Brien goal for Patrickswell to see Doon through to the decider in two weeks time.
