Energia AIL Preview | Limerick sides return to action in the All-Ireland Leagues

The last round of fixtures in the Energia All-Ireland League were played on the 12th of November.

The six Limerick rugby sides are back in action this weekend as they make their return to the field in round 7 of the Energia All-Ireland League.

Only two of the sides were able to pick up wins in their last round of action, with Young Munster keeping their play-off hopes alive with an incredible win over Clontarf while Old Crescent squeezed a 29-28 victory over Nenagh Ormond. You can find the recap here.

This weekend, Division 1A sees Young Munster travel to the capital to face a Dublin University side that moved into second place in round six. They were victorious over fellow Limerick side Shannon last time out and will be hoping to keep pace with Terenure College with a win. The Cookies will more than likely stay put in fifth with a win but will close the gap on the four teams ahead of them.

Garryowen continue their quest for their first victory of the campaign as they visit Lansdowne at the Aviva Stadium. The Limerick outfit are rooted to the bottom and have looked out of their depth this season while their opponents have only chalked one win on the board this season.

Second-to-bottom Shannon host UCD at the back pitch in Thomond Park with the opportunity to move up to seventh place. As mentioned, their last outing was a defeat to Dublin University but they face an outfit closer to their level this weekend and they will be determined to clinch their second win of the campaign.

In Division 2A, Cashel host Old Crescent at Spafield. Crescent will look to carry their momentum from their round six win over Nenagh Ormond but face a strong Cashel team that have only lost twice this season.

Meanwhile, bottom side UL Bohemian have a home tie against second placed Blackrock to endure on Saturday as they continue to search for more points with the Limerick side totting up a total of four after six games.

Lastly, Division 2C sees an away tie for Bruff as they travel to Musgrave Park to take on Sunday’s Well in search for their third win of the campaign.
