FAI Junior Cup 4th Round Draw

The draw for the last 32 of the FAI Junior Cup was completed on Tuesday afternoon with 7 Limerick teams learning their opponents. The 7 Limerick teams remaining consist of 5 from the Limerick District League and 2 from the Desmond League.

Last season’s beaten finalists Pike Rovers advanced to the 4th round after a 1-5 away victory over Premier A table toppers Newport at Derryleigh Park with Steven McGann and Colm Walsh O’Loughlen among the goals. Their reward is a home tie with Peake Villa FC of Tipperary. It is going to be an exciting game with Peake currently second in the Clonmel Credit Union Premier Division with a 100% winning record. Pike also have a 100% winning record in the league and have conceded just one goal.

2020 winners Fairview Rangers had to overcome a stern test from Charleville on Saturday night in order to advance and they will travel to Mayo to take on Manulla FC and will be hoping to reach the heights of two seasons ago once. 2014 finalists Ballynanty Rovers have been drawn away to Cork outfit Everton FC and surprise package and Division 1A side Summerville Rovers have been rewarded for a fine run in the competition with a tough home clash with Gorey Rangers of Wexford FC. It is the first time that Summerville have reached this stage of the competition in their history.

Once again, Regional United have reached the last 32 of the national competition after a hard fought 2-5 victory over Athlunkard Villa last weekend and they face either Coolraine or Longford Town Cruisers away. Newcastle West Town will also be on their travels to Cork as they take on Crosshaven AFC while fellow Desmond League outfit Dromore United will have to overcome the significant challenge posed by Killarney Celtic in the third round before possibly reaching the 4th round where either Midleton or Coachford await in a home draw.
